SOLD! 1950’s Live Steam Engine Toy, Made in West Germany
Here is a live steam engine metal toy made in West Germany.
The completed engine relies on the combustion of solid fuel tablets below a water-filled boiler to create steam. As the steam escapes through a pipe, it pushes a crankshaft that turns a flywheel, completing the conversion of heat energy to mechanical energy. The momentum of the counterweighted flywheel carries the crankshaft back to its starting position, ready for the next cycle.
This toy has been played with and shows ware. It comes with the shovel that has been repaired with wire, tablets to make it work are Not included. Base measures 9” by 7 1/2”.
