SOLD! Vintage Horse Brass, Rose, Shamrock and Thistle
Here is a vintage horse brass featuring a Rose, shamrock and thistle. The rose (floral symbol of England), the shamrock (plant symbol of Ireland), and the thistle (floral symbol of Scotland) in conjunction. The plant badges are grown from the same stem, representing the united countries.
A horse brass is a brass plaque used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses. They became especially popular in England from the mid-19th century until their general decline alongside the use of the draft horse, and remain a collectors item today.
This horse brass was made in the 1960’s and is in used vintage condition with light tarnishing, it measures 3 1/4” tall by 2 3/4” across.
